Overview
Get started with TimeCurve — create your account, set up a client, and track your first time entry.
This guide walks you through setting up TimeCurve for the first time.
1. Create your account
Navigate to the TimeCurve sign-up page and create an account using your email address. After signing up you will receive a verification email — click the link to activate your account.
Once verified, log in to access your dashboard.
2. Set up your first client
All time tracking in TimeCurve is organized around clients. A client represents a person or company you work for.
- Open the Time Tracking section from the sidebar.
- Click the + button in the clients panel on the left.
- Enter the client's name and optionally their company, email, phone, website, address, and notes.
- Set a default hourly rate for the client. This rate will be used to calculate costs for all jobs under the client unless overridden at the job level.
- Click Create to save the client.
3. Add a job
A job represents a specific project or piece of work for a client.
- Hover over a client in the sidebar and click the + button that appears next to it.
- Enter a job name and optional description.
- Optionally set a job-level hourly rate that overrides the client's default rate.
- Click Create to save the job.
4. Track your first time entry
With a job selected, you can start tracking time:
- Click the job in the sidebar to open it in the main panel.
- Click Quick time (or select an existing entry and click Start timer) in the toolbar at the bottom.
- The global timer bar appears at the top of the screen showing elapsed time.
- When you are done, click Stop timer to save the session.
Time entries accumulate timing sessions each time you start and stop the timer on the same entry. The total hours and cost are displayed in the job header.
5. Create an invoice
Once you have tracked time for a client, you can generate an invoice:
- Go to the Invoices section from the sidebar.
- Click New invoice and select the client, due date, currency, and optional tax rate.
- Open the invoice and use Add entries to pull in time entries from any job.
- Review the totals and click Send when you are ready to bill the client.
See the Invoices section for more details.
