Creating Invoices

Learn how to create a new invoice and add time entries to it in auftakt.

Create a new invoice

  1. Go to Invoices in the main navigation.
  2. Click New invoice in the top-right corner.
  3. Fill in the invoice details:

Quick terms: Below the date fields you will find shortcut buttons — Net 15, Net 30, and Net 60 — that automatically set the due date relative to the issue date. Click a button to apply the corresponding payment term in one click.

  1. Click Create to save the draft invoice.

Add time entries to an invoice

After creating an invoice, open it from the invoice list. In the invoice detail view:

  1. Click Add entries.
  2. Select the time entries you want to include. Entries are grouped by job.
  3. Click Add to attach the selected entries to the invoice.

Each line item on the invoice reflects the entry's description, hours, rate, and calculated amount. Fixed-amount entries are added at their fixed price.

Review and finalize

Before sending, review:

  • Line item descriptions and amounts
  • Subtotal, tax, and total
  • Client details and due date

Entries marked as Taxable contribute to the tax total. Entries marked as Included will be flagged to prevent accidental double-billing.
