Creating Invoices
Learn how to create a new invoice and add time entries to it in auftakt.
Create a new invoice
- Go to Invoices in the main navigation.
- Click New invoice in the top-right corner.
- Fill in the invoice details:

| Client | Yes | The client to bill. Only existing clients are available. |
| Due date | Yes | The date payment is expected |
| Currency | Yes | The billing currency (e.g. USD, EUR) |
| Tax rate | No | Percentage applied to taxable line items |
| Notes | No | Any additional information to include on the invoice |
- Click Create to save the draft invoice.
Add time entries to an invoice
After creating an invoice, open it from the invoice list. In the invoice detail view:
- Click Add entries.
- Select the time entries you want to include. Entries are grouped by job.
- Click Add to attach the selected entries to the invoice.
Each line item on the invoice reflects the entry's description, hours, rate, and calculated amount. Fixed-amount entries are added at their fixed price.
Review and finalize
Before sending, review:
- Line item descriptions and amounts
- Subtotal, tax, and total
- Client details and due date
Entries marked as Taxable contribute to the tax total. Entries marked as Included will be flagged to prevent accidental double-billing.
